Just as crews were getting ready for lunch on Friday, September 13, 2019, Station 27 (B Platoon) was alerted to respond to the 800 block of Kohn St. for a dwelling fire. Shortly after dispatch, PD confirmed fire showing from the first floor; and with smoke showing from several blocks out, AC27 requested the working fire dispatch. Crews arrived and found fire from the kitchen area of the structure, as well as all residents accounted for outside. Several lines were stretched and the fire was knocked down in short order. Additional crews checked the exposure building for extension and conducted primary, secondary searches, and salvage and overhaul operations of the fire building. The fire was placed under control and 27 units remained on location assisting in the fire investigation. Thank you to Stations 61 (East Norriton), 32 (Goodwill), 43 (Plymouth), 56 (Upper Merion), 53 (Lower Providence) and Medic 308 for assisting onscene; and to Stations 46 (Jefferson), 31 (Bridgeport #1) and 47 (King of Prussia) for covering any other calls in Norristown.
