On Saturday, August 17, 2019, Norristown and surrounding municipalities stayed busy with multiple calls for service. The first call came in around 7:30PM for E27 and Q27 to assist Station 61 (East Norriton) at a building fire on Germantown Pk. Crews assisted in investigating the source of smoke throughout multiple commercial businesses in the shopping center, and isolated the problem to an HVAC motor on the roof.
As both E27 and Q27 was responding to East Norriton, AC27 was advised of a vehicle fire in the 1600 block of Arch St. AC27 requested assistance from the next due Engine Co., which added Station 32 (Goodwill) to the call. AC27 arrived and confirmed a working vehicle fire, with an exposure issue to another vehicle. Also, PECO was requested for a live wire down near both vehicles. As soon as the power to the energized line was secured, E27-1 and E32 worked to extinguish the fire.
During the vehicle fire, AC27 was advised of a 3rd call, this time on the 1000 block of Dekalb St. Due to multiple 27 units operating at 2 different incidents, Station 47 (King of Prussia) and Bridgeport 5 was called to assist. Crews found that the alarm activated as a result of power being restored to the area after a power outage and cleared shortly after arriving.
Through the remainder of the evening and into the next morning, Station 27 handled 3 additional calls for service. Thank you and Great job to all who assisted in and around the Municipality on Saturday evening.
