Saturday, January 4, 2014 A 17 yr old Norristown boy was injured in a two alarm blaze on the 200 blk of Minor Street that was reported at 14:37 on Saturday Afternoon. The youth was transported by JeffStar to Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia with injuries. Neighbors reported that he had jumped from the third floor of the home where the fire started. The fire extended into six homes on either side of the house where it started and a second alarm was struck at 15:20. It was declared under control at 17:00. The Red Cross was on hand to assist 10 adults and 7 children who were displaced from their home. Firefighters were challenged by the freezing temperatures that caused treacherous footing. Units from the East Norriton, Goodwill, Centre Square, Plymouth, Worcester, Bridgeport, King of Prussia, Jefferson, Barren Hill, Limerick, Upper Providence, North Penn, Swedeland, Harmonville, Conshohocken, Wissahickon, Swedesburg, Royersford and Gladwyne fire companies, Plymouth Ambulance and the Montgomery County Incident Support Team assisted. North Penn Goodwill and SEPTA provided relief for firefighters operating on the scene.
