At shift change on Thursday morning, October 22nd, Stations 27 (A & B Platoons) and 46 (Jefferson) were dispatched for a water rescue on the Schuylkill River in the area of the 900 block of Jackson St. Marine 27 responded with Quint 27 to Riverfront Park while CT27 and Engine 27 responded to Jackson St. to get eyes on the subject. Marine and Quint 27 deployed Boat 27-1 with 2 members onto the river. Engine 27s crew was able to make contact with the subject but was unable to complete a shore-based rescue as the subject was stuck up to the waist line in mud. Boat 27-1 was able to pull the subject from the mud and into the boat. The boat crew then transported the patient back to Riverfront Park where the patient was packaged and transferred to EMS. Marine 46 also deployed Boat 46 onto the river to act as a safety boat. Marine 56 (Upper Merion) was also dispatched and staged at Riverfront Park.
