As temperatures began to climb on the afternoon of Monday, July 29th, the Department (A Platoon) was dispatched to a dumpster fire in the 100 block of Noble St. As units were responding, County received additional calls reporting fire spreading from the dumpster to the building. The assignment was then upgraded and the working fire procedure was dispatched bringing additional mutual aid units the scene. Units arrived finding a dumpster well off with exposure problems. Crews stretched multiple hand lines to control the fire, initiated primary and secondary searches, and overhauled the building.
During the fire, the sprinkler system FDC was ordered to be utilized. As the line was charged the Siamese disconnected from the building rendering that part of the FDC inoperable. Luckily, no injuries were reported and the fire was extinguished without further incident.
Units assisting on-scene, and with covering Norristown, included Stations 61 (Norriton), 43 (Plymouth), 56 (Upper Merion), 32 (Goodwill), 29 (Barren Hill), 53 (Lower Providence), 47 (King of Prussia), 35 (Conshohocken) and 308 (Plymouth Ambulance).
